Brunsons Return Sparks Knicks Comeback

Brunson's Return Sparks Knicks Comeback

Despite halftime injury scare

All-Star guard leads Knicks charge

In the midst of a magical Knicks playoff run, Jalen Brunson returned to Wednesday's game against the Indiana Pacers and helped spark a second-half comeback.

Brunson, who had been dealing with a sore right foot, left Game 2 of the second-round series in the first half. But he returned in the third quarter and scored 24 of his 29 points to help the Knicks cut a 20-point deficit to just 5 points.

"I just wanted to come out there and help my team," Brunson said. "I knew I wasn't 100%, but I wanted to give it a go. I'm just glad I was able to make some plays and help us get back in the game."

Brunson's return was a major boost for the Knicks, who were struggling without their leading scorer. He hit several big shots in the second half, including a 3-pointer that cut the Pacers' lead to 5 points with just over 3 minutes remaining.

"Jalen is a warrior," Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said. "He's a leader on this team. He's the guy we go to when we need a big play. And he came through for us tonight."

The Knicks ultimately fell to the Pacers 108-105, but Brunson's return gave them a much-needed spark. He is expected to be ready for Game 3 on Friday.
